Starting December 1, 2017, it is with great excitement that I announce my permanent move to New York. In my place, I've carefully chosen my talented successor, Laura Hanks, LAc with Golden Summit Acupuncture to treat patients out of the 2929 Summit Street location in Oakland. You can book with her now. You will be in great hands. In gratitude, Rhoda

About Rhoda Climenhaga, L.Ac.

Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine
Rhoda Climenhaga, L.Ac.Rhoda is passionate about healthy living on all levels. Helping people create balanced, healthy lives is her soul work, the product of a long and meaningful journey of self discovery and healing.

Rhoda first discovered Chinese medicine 17 years ago when it relieved the severe nausea she experienced during pregnancy. As she began to study and use this ancient art, she found that it cleared her headaches, improved her moods, and generally left her with an improved sense of well being. The more she learned, the more she fell in love with Chinese Medicine, and so she began studying it in earnest.

She has been studying Chinese culture, meditation, and natural health for nearly two decades, with ten years of experience performing acupuncture and fifteen years prescribing medicinal herbs. Rhoda specializes in using natural methods to treat women's health problems, including painful menstruation, menopause, and hormonal mood swings.

My Background
Rhoda is a faculty member at the Academy of Chinese Culture and Health Science in Oakland. She has extensive training in modern western and Traditional Chinese Medicine, including a Master of Science degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine, a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Virginia, and training in herbology and nutrition.

During her four-year Chinese Medicine program, Rhoda studied women’s health with Aiqun Wang, L.Ac, and ShaoHua Li, L.Ac., both experts in the field, with decades of experience in China. She later studied TCM Gynecology and Obstetrics under Bob Flaws, L.Ac., a well known authority in the field in the United States. She has also done graduate work in anthropology and Chinese language at the University of Chicago.

Before beginning her study of Chinese medicine, Rhoda worked as a research associate in the biotechnology industry. This work taught her laboratory and clinical research techniques, and was also instrumental in helping her realize that there should be a better approach to healing. She knew that she wanted to help others in a way that embodied her personal ethics of balancing body, mind, and spirit.

My Commitment
Through thousands of treatments, Rhoda has seen what Chinese Medicine can do. She has seen hundreds of people heal—not just cover up symptoms—beginning with herself. Now her goal is to inform as many people as possible that Chinese Medicine can help. Through acupuncture, herbal medicine, and nutrition therapy, Rhoda’s aim is to help bring bodies into balance. Her treatments include nutritional advice, guided meditation, and deep relaxation; in-depth consultations in these areas are available.

Rhoda is a wonderful acupuncturist. I initially started seeing her for back, shoulder and neck pain and then continued to see her throughout my first pregnancy. When my little one decided to snooze in past her due date, Rhoda gave me several treatments to induce her naturally. I really do attribute my fast and easy labor to both Rhoda and acupuncture.
